Gilbert Praneuf died on August 9 at the age of 78. He was born in 1943 in Chalencon, his native country. With a CAP in plumbing in his pocket, he succeeded his father Marcel Praneuf at the head of his plumbing manufacturing company. His work was a passion that he carried out with an exemplary professional conscience. He was a man of integrity, highly respected in his community.
He was elected as a municipal councilor from 1977 to 1983, and as a deputy from 1983 to 1995, reelected in each mandate. His advice was invaluable.
He married Hélène, a native of Alboussière, in June 1966. Three children were born to the union: Didier, who is a pharmacist in Alboussière, Cécile and Christine. Five grandchildren came to increase the family. Among his passions is hunting. In retirement, he traveled with his wife and participated in humanitarian actions in Senegal. They brought books, medicine, and today in a Senegalese village, a school and a library bear the name of Gilberta and Hélène Praneuf. Self-taught in DIY, Gilbert knew how to make almost anything. A collector, he was also a dealer in used goods. He was also a painter, colorist and creator of models of wooden huts.
A large crowd attended the funeral at the temple in Chalencon, led by pastor Nathalie Patonnier.
