Originally from Romania, Lavinia Augeai moved to the Paris region to complete her Masters in Finance at Evry University. After obtaining her diploma, the designer becomes an international buyer in mass distribution. After an event that changed her life, Lavinia decided to found ColorTherapis two years ago; the key to personal and professional development. Self-taught, she makes her own graphics: “The shapes I reproduce vary according to my inspiration.”she says.

For the design of carpets as well as pillows which she makes with scraps of yarn, the designer works in collaboration with workshops located in Jaipur, India, known for their craftsmanship and precision in weaving details. Tufting – a weaving technique performed using a tufting gun – is used to texture textile pieces and provide some durability. “Our workshops also use the loom technique, which involves threading the needles through the loom.” explains the founder.

Pop colors used to make different pieces brands are perceived as chroma therapy. Goal? Align your body and mind to be in tune with yourself. In the work of Lavinia Augeai, there is also an obvious reference to the painter Matisse who adored bright colors and defended the real freedom of composition through his movement called Fauvism.

“Everything inspires me a little bit: fashion, nature, seasons… The period of the 1970s greatly animates me, like the style of Bauhaus or Memphis.” adds Lavinia. Orange, red, pink, green are all colorimetric notes that are next to each other in the works of ColorTherapis, sometimes representinge rising sun with carpet Sunrise, sometimes a Parisian walk with your pillow Paris Seine, produced in limited series.

Lavinia Augeai favors in her creations use of plant materials: the wool comes from New Zealand while the cotton is of Indian origin. She also prefers vegetable dyes to dye her yarn. On the other hand, custom models allow you to play with sizes and thickness of fabrics.

ColorTherapis also offers unique armchairs, made with an eco-responsible upcycling method: “Most armchairs are signed by architects. I also work with professional junk dealers from Eastern Europe and wardrobe workshops in my hometown, Cluj-Napoca.” The various wooden structures – sometimes dating back to the era of Soviet modernism – are covered with fabric remnants from major luxury houses such as Courrèges, Pierre Frey and Kenzo.

And after ? Lavinia Augeai is preparing various collaborations with, in particular, a large design studio for next May and another with the furniture brand Fleux.
