the important thing
Exhibition, course, visit, Les jardins du chemin, conference, to discover the process from the roots of magic to color.
“I loved plants and travel, colors, needlework, painting, sewing,” explains Dominique Noguès, a great connoisseur of the tinctorial properties of plants. “And then everything became coherent, in harmony. My travels became the goal for new discoveries in dyeing and it was an open door to destinations off the beaten track. In Paris I had a common garden, I set up a tinctorial garden there. In Lectoure I founded his association, Les jardins du chemin, to promote the tincture power of plants. In order to pass on this knowledge, I was fortunate that Michel Garcia agreed to come to Lectoure”.
The latter, a pioneer of the revival of natural dyes in France, an artistic researcher of vegetable dyes and a producer of natural dyes since 1993, is the creator of the first tinctorial garden in France. He is also the author of numerous manuals; a true reference in the world of natural coloring. He was delighted with the internship offer. Ali Michel Garcia offers a garden walk on the theme of coloring the people, all public, free of charge, on Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m., at “Les jardins du chemin”, chemin du Marquisat in Lectoure. The free conference – “Mad, the most beautiful red plant” – is scheduled at 18:30 in the Salle des Etats in the tourist office of Lectoure. They will retrace the history of the efforts of generations of dyers and chemists to understand the mysteries of a living creature: the madder, and to obtain one of the most magnificent plant reds.
